Wisconsin Archery Deer Season 2026: Sept. 12-Jan. 3

Why Bow Season Still Needs A Unit Workflow
Archery searches often sound simpler than gun searches, but the field answer still depends on:
- Whether the hunter has an archer license, crossbow license, or another valid route in Go Wild.
- Deer Management Unit, zone and land type.
- Whether the property is in a Metro Subunit or county with extended archery season.
- Whether an antlerless-only row is in effect.
- Public or private access rule.
- CWD, carcass movement, disposal and home-state import rules.
Use the DNR date as a planning anchor. Use Go Wild and DNR regulations for proof.
Gun Season Overlap And Clothing
Wisconsin DNR says at least half of each hunter's clothing above the waist must be blaze orange or pink any time a firearm deer season is in progress, and any head covering must also be at least half blaze orange or pink. That can matter for bowhunters during firearm deer seasons.
Before a November archery hunt, check the DNR deer page, current regulations and shooting-hours materials rather than assuming a bow-only rule from September still explains the whole hunt.
Antlerless-Only Boundary
DNR's date table notes that no bucks may be harvested during the antlerless-only hunts identified by DNR. That affects late-season archery planning because the open method does not automatically make every deer legal.
Confirm:
- The exact hunt row open on that date.
- DMU, zone and land type.
- Whether the county has a holiday hunt or extended archery season.
- Whether your authorization is valid for that place and land type.
- Whether you are in a Metro Subunit with a different late-season structure.
